Ehrlich’s Hematoxylin

EMS Catalog #: 26753-Series

Fixation:

Formalin 10% Neutral Buffered (#15740) or fixative of choice

Sections:

Paraffin @ 5 -6 microns.

Staining Procedures:

  1. Deparaffinize and hydrate to distilled water.
  2. Stain for 2 – 5 minutes in Ehrlich’s Hematoxylin (#26753-01). Wash in distilled water.
  3.  Differentiate in Acid Alcohol (#26753-02)  until the sections turn red.
  4. Blue section in Sodium Acetate, 1% (#26753-03) or Ammonium Water (#26753-3A) or Lithium Carbonate Solution (#26753-3B)
  5. Wash thoroughly and counterstain.
